Television coverage for the Fun Cup is significantly expanding in 2017, with the championship set to reach its biggest audience to date.
In addition to continued coverage on both Motorsport.tv (formerly Motors TV) and Sky Sports, the championship’s production partners Frank Johns Associates and Chris Hartley Media, have secured a new deal with Front Runner; the UK’s only free-to-air sports channel.
Launched in October, Front Runner is available on Freeview channel 91 and reaches 19 million homes across the UK, via Freeview, FreeSat, YouView, Talk Talk, BT and Sky.
Furthermore, the championship’s global audience is set to grow significantly, thanks to a new deal with online behemoth, Motor Trend on Demand – the world’s premier automotive video destination.
With over 4.8 million subscribers to its Youtube channel, Motor Trend on Demand covers a wide variety of high profile international championships, including the Blancpain Sprint GT championship, British GT, the DTM, European F3 and highlights of the BTCC, as well a number of its own hugely popular original automotive series.
The new package means that highlights from every round of the championship will be aired by no less than four different broadcasters, with both of the new channels taking the Fun Cup as stand-alone programmes.
What’s more, coverage from the opening round at Silverstone and the final round from Oulton Park will be extended to one-hour programmes. The Spa 25 hour coverage retains its traditional one-hour TV slot and all other UK rounds will receive a half-hour highlights package and there will also be an extended end of season-review programme.
