Fresh from a 2nd place at the Dubai 24 hours, double Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Champion, Jake Rattenbury, has joined forces with front-running outfit Team Trooper Iron Maiden for an all-out assault on the 2017 Fun Cup Championship. Also joining the line-up this season, is 17 year old former karting champion, Harry Mailer, who proved his raw speed and consistency in his debut season in Fun Cup last year, setting the pace and bagging a podium at Brands Hatch in a fiercely competitive field.
Team Principal, Antonio Armelin, said: “We’re delighted to have two such exciting young prospects join the team this year. Our objective is to fight for the championship all the way down to the wire. Budget permitting, our longer term goal is to take our drivers into LMP3 in 2018 and beyond. I’m sure both Jake and Harry have successful futures ahead of them in sports car racing.”
Co-owner and chief engineer, Paul Wighton, added: “The 2017 Fun Cup season is set to be a stirring one for the team and we’re all looking forward to the challenge ahead. Both drivers have the skills necessary to help Team Trooper to its first championship title.”
BTCC legend and Le Mans ace, Anthony Reid, has landed a full GT3 programme this year, but will be retained by the team as mentor and driver coach.
