After a successful first year together, the Axiametrics duo of Chris Dovell and Kristian Rose are looking to build on their 2 podiums and race victory at Zandvoort. Their 5th place in the 2019 championship was good, but in 2020 they want to be pushing for regular podiums and you never know maybe even challenging for the championship. With this ambition, they are super excited to announce that Riley Phillips, who showed considerable speed and ability in 2019 with Despatch.Bay, will be joining the team for 2020.
Riley Phillips became the youngest ever winner of a Fun Cup race last year, proving his 4 karting championship titles were a good base to transition into cars. With two wins and a second place to his name from 2019, Riley said “I am really looking forward to 2020 and racing with Chris and Kris in the Axiametrics car. The team was super quick all last season, so hopefully this season we can push further up the championship table.”
Chris Dovell, said: ‘The last 3 years in Fun Cup have been amazing with a 10th, 6th and last year a 5th in the championship. It certainly gets more competitive at the sharp end, but with Riley joining us this year and a bit more luck on our side (doesn’t everyone say that?!?), we are definitely hoping to be standing on the podium a few more times.”
Kristian Rose added: “We really enjoyed 2019 together, but wanted to improve the aero efficiency of our team for 2020, so Chris Weatherill just had to go. After testing Riley in JPR’s new wind tunnel, we decided he was the perfect fit for the team and now we can’t ‘weight’ to get started!”.
