FUN CUP ENDURANCE 2026 – ROUNDS THREE & FOUR – ANGLESEY
– PREVIEW
Records are always set to be broken and this weekends Fun Cup
Endurance double header is no exemption as it’s a record grid size
for Anglesey at 31 cars!
Reigning Champions Team GRD go into the weekend with a 10
point lead over GCI Racing, having started this season, as they
finished the last, as winners at both Oulton Park and Snetterton.
Chris Dovell and Simon Rudd have both had turns at starting the
GRD car, before Riley Phillips takes it to the flag, so time will what
their Anglesey strategy will be.
Fomer Champions GCI were fifth in the season opener, but after
Craig Butterworth and Ian Wood finished third on the road at
Snetterton, they were promoted to second after UVio Hofmann’s
were excluded for being a whisker underweight.
Farquini and Fabulous Randaccio had a very strong second half to
last season and were second in the opener at Oulton, before
dominating much of the Snetterton one until their exclusion. It’s
cost them dearly championship wise, as they dropped from second
to 18 th .
It’s been a good start to 2026 for Greenheath, with Gary Bate and
Paul Turner, fourth in both races to lie third in the Championship
and second to GRD again in the Masters Class. They are still seeking
that elusive first win though.
Seed Data’s Mike Devlin and Matt Hogg secured their best result to
date at Snetterton, with fifth overall. Combined with 10 th at Oulton,
that was enough to place them fourth in the table and looking for
at least one more top six this weekend.
Demon Tweeks had a troublesome year in 2025 but they have more
than made up for that already. Brothers Jason and Guy Minshaw
along with nephew Jack are joint fourth in the Championship with
Seed Data and third in the Masters, after a ninth and a sixth placed
finish so far.
The Rob Boston Rare Vinyl team is currently sixth best, but has had
two completely different driver line-ups. At Oulton Sam Heading
and Tom Lebbon were sixth, before Rob Croydon came back for
Snetterton, sharing 10 th with Tom Roche. This weekends line-up
once again looks formidable, as Roche shares with similarly
multiple Mazda MX-5 Champion Will Blackwell-Chambers.
AxiaMetrics have another reshuffle in their line-up. Chris Weatherill
has been ever present, but this weekend William Smith shares
again, with rallyman John Perrott returning for his seasonal debut.
Seventh at Oulton is their best so far, leaving them seventh in the
table too.
PLR Racing haven’t made the top 10 overall so far this season, but
consistency leaves Neil Plimmer and Tim Wheeldon eighth overall
and fourth in the Masters.
Clapham North were Fun Cup debutants at Oulton and led much of
the first part of the race with Abbie Eaton. George Grant made one
appearance last season, but they will be looking for their first top
10 too.
The Signature RV trio of Steve Ruston, John Whitehouse and
Marcus Clutton are currently fifth best Masters crew and 10 th
overall, after taking 10 th at Snetterton. Clutton is a master of
Anglesey, so a podium finish should be well within their grasp.
Despite engine issues in the opening round, Vlad Vassliev and Ted
Bradbury were still third overall, matching their final Championship
position of last season. But they gave Snetterton a miss, leaving
them on the backfoot championship wise.
Sherardize UK came back to the Championship last year after a
considerable lay-off, with Peter Belshaw and Teddy Wilson winning
at Croft. Belshaw gave the first two rounds a miss but returns this
weekend, with super quick ex Formula Vee racer Matt Hyde
sharing, having already proved himself in some Fun Cup outings last
year.
Mark Holme and Colin Kingsnorth had been away two years in the
French Fun Cup, but made their return with the Team Viking Ursus
Capital Racing car. Kingsnorth was also missing from Snetterton,
when Harry Mailer deputised.
Racelogic are former multiple champions but looking to restore
their consistency with Julian Thomas and David Denyer, but after
another lengthy spell away, Track Focused came back strongly at
Oulton with Sean Cooper and Mike McCollum. Luck wasn’t with
them at Oulton, but they were eighth at Snetterton.
Teenagers Neo Clarke and Josh Phelps are paired again at Tropical
Rocket Racing and it’s welcome back to GT ace Phil Keen, who
returns to Fun Cup partnering Anders Hildebrand in the Sunoco
Racing Team.
Red River Sport will have to be hot on their strategies though, as
Johhny Mowlem, Bonamy Grimes and Gareth Williams are sharing
two cars!!
Snetterton newcomers Northern Velocity had their eye on the prize
fund, with Mazda MX-5 racers Jack Harding, Alan Henderson and
Dan Irving. They didn’t win the top prize but came away
considerably better off after finishing third.
Greg Evans and Stephen Walton have teamed up again this season,
after a couple of years apart. Their FNS Morpheus car was eighth at
Oulton too.
Mark Burton has Matthew Reeve with him again in the second
Demon Tweeks car and the Team FFS race winning trio of Nick
Highton with Barry and Lewis Thompson are back too, after missing
Snetterton.
Jason Baker and James Reilly share a Rob Boston car again, having
finished seventh last time out, when Blackwell-Chambers shared
too.
There are two Father and son teams too, with Pierre and Andre
Renom and Roger and Morgan Sparrow, while Gary Summers has
Grahame Winstone sharing again.
Kristian Rose shares the Leightec car with Shay Brennan and there
are two returnees in the Fuelled Up car, with Victor Kara and Paul
Ellis-Smith back after a couple of seasons out.
Finally we have one all new team eligible for the £10,000 first time
winner prize. As Toby Hall and Avery Baker both take to the track.
Saturday mornings qualifying is over 45 minutes from 9.30, with
lights out for race one at 12.45 and three hours of action, before it
all starts again at 18.55 racing into the night.
