FUN CUP ENDURANCE 2025 – ROUNDS THREE & FOUR– ANGLESEY – PREVIEW

INTO THE NIGHT ACTION AT ANGLESEY!

This weekend the Fun Cup features it’s first double header of the season, with the traditional into the night race at Anglesey.

Defending Champion Olympian-GRD head the line-up with Chris Dovell, Simon Rudd and Riley Phillips, having also won both races so far this season.

UVio/Hofmann’s Farquini Deott/Fabulous Randaccio are second in the Championship at the moment, having finished on the podium in virtually every race over the last year.

Uvio AngleseyBut UVio’s quest to return to the top step of the podium may be thwarted by Sherardize UK, who returned to the Championship this season, after a number of years out. Peter Belshaw and Teddy Wilson were second at Oulton Park, but were closing rapidly as the flag came out.

AxiaMetrics are currently third in the table, as Chris Weatherill/John Perrott/Greg Evans’ luck has finally changed after more than their fare share of misfortune in 2024.

Vapeclub with EDF Motorsports Vlad Vassiliev is currently fourth in the points, having been joined by race winner Ted Bradbury for this season. They should be in line for a podium too, with Vassiliev still seeking that elusive maiden victory.

Current Masters points leaders and fifth overall in the Championship are Red River Motorsport. Gareth Williams and Johnny Mowlem are the usual drivers with Bonamy Grimes, but Grimes has to miss some rounds with other commitments.

Seed Data 214 car AngleseyGreenheath are another pairing seeking a first win, Gary Bate and Paul Turner have had podiums and led races, so could this be their weekend?

Morpheus Motorsport have two entries, with Stephen Walton joined again by Harry Mailer, who partnered him at Oulton. Mailer again proved his pace by leading at Oulton for a while, but it will be an interesting dual with team mates Chris and Charlie Hart. Hart senior a former Champion, while junior was close to taking the first time winner prize last season, sharing a second place with BTCC Champion Jake Hill.

It wouldn’t be a Fun Cup race without Neil Plimmer. Another former Champion and this weekend he is rejoined by former partner Tim Wheeldon, with Ben Pitch unavailable.

Julian Thomas was a multiple Champion a few years back, before concentrating on his historic racing. He had David Denyer back to share this weekend, after Jonny Hoad deputised at Oulton. Racing in their new 210 car this weekend, this will be one to watch!

Demon Tweeks were new to the Fun Cup this year, but Jason Minshaw did a few races last season with Mark Burton. There is now a Minshaw trio, with Jason joined by son Jack and brother Guy, while Burton heads the line-up in a second car, with Graham Pattle and Will Abraham.

Rob Croydon has shared various cars with various drivers over the last few years, but this year has his own Rare Vinyl car, sharing with former Caterham racer Matt Larbey. The Rare Vinyl car showed some excellent pace at their first outing at Oulton Park. These guys certainly have the pace to make inroads into the top teams with a bit of luck on their side as they build their experience as a team.

Anglesey Park Race Circuit Event BannerSeed Data are another team whose luck fluctuates dramatically, but Mike Devlin and Matt Hogg have the pace to challenge in the top six, but wait to see if luck is on their side this weekend?

The newest car in the field is Signature RV’s, but we have yet to see the best of it. As former race winners, Steve Ruston and John Whitehouse will once again be joined by GT ace Marcus Clutton, and continue to seek that winning set up.

B.E.R.T is a team set up by Jonathan Railton, after learning his way in Fun Cup last season with AxiaMetrics. The former biker is joined for this years campaign by another biker Angus Gough. Winning team of the day on their last trip out at Oulton Park, these guys are starting to show some great promise.

Race Ventura are the only four driver team with former rally driving brothers Richard and Stuart Bliss, joined by Bob Bannister and Dominic Fletcher. All four have moved up from the City Car Cup, but the season didn’t start kindly for them, after Richard Bliss crashed heavily at Brands Hatch.

Team FFS are relative newcomers too. Caterham Champion Lewis Thompson and father Barry both debuted at the end of last season, but are back for the whole campaign in 2025. With a 4th place finish at Brands Hatch, FFS are starting to show some fantastic pace. They were very unlucky at Oulton having an early incident but with that being their dropped round, it’s all to play for for the 220 boys.

In the 257 machine, having sampled Fun Cup over the last year or so. They have Matthew Hyde/Simon Goodwin/Toby Clowes out this weekend.

Anglesey 2018 d2 1904 scaled 1British GT4 racer Steve Lake made his Fun Cup return at Oulton too and is due to share at Anglesey with Kristian Rose, as Team Disruptive.

Andre and Pierre Renom were new to the Championship too this season, a father and son team, with Pierre having raced Formula Renault in the past.

Finally, Fast Track complete the 23 car line-up, with Tom Greensall, nephew of Nigel, due out for the first time for over a year, with his co driver Jordan Kerridge’s first time in the car.
