Junior Saloon Car Championship race winner, Charlie Kennedy, has confirmed plans to take on a number of rounds in the 2017 Fun Cup championship.
Competing for father Jason’s Jason Kennedy Racing team, Charlie will take on April’s opening four-hour round at Silverstone, as well as the showpiece of the 25 Hours of Spa, where entries of more than 100 cars are the norm.
The Silverstone racer, who turns 17 in March, will be taking on the one-make championship after a 2016 season which saw him come tantalisingly close to the JSCC title, after claiming four podiums and a victory over the course of the year. He also sampled a classic BMW M3 at the Walter Hayes Trophy in November, where he claimed second in class on his debut in the car.
Now though, Charlie’s sights are on the endurance championship.
He said: “I can’t wait to get going in the Fun Cup. The competition is always great and some of the best drivers in the country routinely join the grid, so it would be great to test myself against them.”
He added: “My first visit to Spa is going to be one of the best experiences in my racing career so far, last year they had more than 120 cars take on the race, so you know it is going to be action-packed. Plus, the opportunity to take on Eau Rouge and Raidillon will be immense!”
