The Fun Cup Academy has been created to bring new drivers in to the Fun Cup Championship with full driver training, tuition and ARDS testing.
Edward Birdle passed his ARDS test in August 2016, with Jay and the Fun Cup Academy team.
He has competed in the X30 Karting Championships around the UK, with Ambition Motorsport. He has been racing in karts since the age of 8 and moved into owner driver karting when he was 13 years old. From there on, he has competed in many different Championships from local to British and some one-off special events.
In his spare time he enjoys watching motorsport and providing driver coaching to the younger drivers from his team. He also enjoys playing Xbox with his friends from karting.
He is currently at college full time, studying motorsport mechanics, which he hopes will help him in his understanding of how to set-up cars and provide relevant feedback to his team and mechanics.
This year will be his first year of car racing and he cannot wait for the season to start.
Christopher Bridle passed his ARDS test in 2016 with Jay and the Academy team. He has been racing in karts since the age of 8, but moved into owner driver when he was 13 years old with Ambition Motorsport. From there on he has competed in many of different championships from local to British and one-off special events, such as Kart Masters.
He has accumulated race wins, podiums and championship wins in his karting career.
Outside of racing, he is currently studying English and Business A-Levels, which he will complete in 2017.
He is really looking forward to competing in the Fun Cup with the Academy and cannot wait for the 2017 season.
Chris started racing in the Caterham series about 20 years ago, but due to work and family commitments was only able to participate in a couple of races per year for a few seasons, before having to give up completely. After obtaining his racing licence back in 2013, Chris was introduced to the Fun Cup. He competed in two or three races in 2014, 2015 and 2016, achieving a couple of top ten finishes and on one occasion, ‘Team of the Day’.
2017 will be the first full season for Chris in the Fun Cup championship and he is extrememly excited about joining Team7 Fun Cup Academy. Both his team-mates, Ed and Chris Bridle have a huge amount of raw talent from their karting days and it will be very exciting to see this transpose itself on the track with a Fun Cup car.
Away from racing, Chris has a passion for skiing and climbing and has climbed some of the highest mountains in the world. When not up a mountain he will be accompanying his wife in her passion of diving exotic and remote dive sites around the world.
Chris runs a property development company called West Side Property Development, which specialises in providing land owners with finance and expertise to develop their land.
